Finding a Kitchen Appliance Serial Number

The serial number for a kitchen appliance is typically found on a small label or metal plate on the unit. The exact location depends on the type of appliance: inside the door, along a frame, on the back, or underneath.

    Common Locations by Appliance Type

    • Refrigerator

      • Inside: Check the inside walls, particularly the upper left or right corner.
      • Behind the drawers: It may be on the frame behind the crisper or other drawers.
    • Range or Oven

      • Inside the storage drawer: Look on the frame of the appliance behind the drawer.
      • Inside the oven door: It can also be found on the frame just inside the oven door.
      • Behind the control panel: Some ranges have a label on a flip-up tab behind the rear control panel.
    • Dishwasher

      • Inside the door: The label is almost always located on the rim of the tub, just inside the dishwasher door, on either the right or left side.
    • Microwave

      • Over-the-range: The label is usually on the door frame, visible when you open the door.
      • Countertop: Look on the door frame or on the back or side of the unit.
    • Cooktop

      • Underside: The serial number is typically on a rating plate attached to the underside of the unit.
    • Front-Load Washer & Dryer

      • Behind the Door: Open the door and inspect the rim or door jamb for a sticker with the model and serial numbers.
      • Exterior: Sometimes the tag is on the right side, lower front corner, or the exterior side of the unit.
      • Back of Unit: A second tag may be located on the back of the dryer if the front one is missing or worn.
    • Top-Load Washer

      • Lift the Lid: Check the frame or inside of the lid for the label.
      • Control Panel: The tag might be on the top or back of the control panel itself.
      • Exterior: For some models, the label can be on the side of the main cabinet.
    • Top-Load Dryer

      • Lift the Lid: Inside the door, on the rim of the opening.
      • Exterior: Check the back of the unit.
    • Stacked Washer/Dryer Combo

      • Lift the Lid: Inside the dryer door, on the frame.
      • Exterior: Check the back of the unit.
